Box Score Rams Defeat NYU-Poly at USTA National Tennis

White Plains, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State men's tennis
team defeated Skyline opponent NYU-Poly on Thursday night, 5-4, at
the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center. The Rams improved
to 6-4 overall, 4-1 in the conference with the win. NYU-Poly fell
to 4-6, 3-2 with the loss.
In doubles play, Farmingdale State won at 2nd doubles and 3rd
doubles to hold a 2-1 advantage before the start of the singles
matches. Junior Chris Genzmann (Massapequa, N.Y./Farmingdale) and
freshman Alex Bessarabov (Lindenhurst, N.Y./Lindenhurst) won at #2
doubles with an 8-6 win, while senior Joe Hotzak (St. James,
N.Y./Smithtown) and freshman Adrian Summerlin (Riverhead,
N.Y./Riverhead) won 8-0 at #3 doubles.
The teams split 3-3 over the six singles matches, as Bessarabov
won the deciding match, 7-6 (7-4), 7-2 to secure the 5-4 victory
for Farmingdale State.
Farmingdale State will host Purchase College on Monday, April
19th, before closing out the regular season on Wednesday, April
21st at the Binghamton Racquet Club against Yeshiva at 8:00
p.m.
