MALVERN, PA | The Farmingdale State College men's golf team sits in seventh place after the opening round of the Swarthmore Invitational at White Manor Country Club on Sunday. The Rams carded a team score of 309 (+25) in the first round of the 16-team event.
Sophomore Rishi Talwar (East Farmingdale, N.Y.) led FSC with a 3-over-par 74 and currently sits in eighth place individually. Talwar shot a 35 on the front nine before finishing with a 39 on the back.
Freshman Philip Connolly (Garden City, N.Y.) is tied for 19th after firing a 5-over 76, while classmate Luke Grebinar (Leominster, MA) sits tied for 44th after shooting an 8-over 79.
Junior Padruig Douglas (Northport, N.Y.) recorded a 9-over 80 and junior Luke O'Grady-Rodgers (Carmel, N.Y.) rounded out the Rams' scoring with an 83.
Senior James Quinlan (Poughquag, N.Y.), who is competing as an individual, shot a 6-over 77 and is currently tied for 28th.
No. 39 Franklin & Marshall leads the field after posting a 290 (+6) in round one, followed by Dickinson (292) and Tufts (297). Host Swarthmore is in fourth place with a 301.
Franklin & Marshall's David McNamara currently holds the individual lead after shooting a 2-under 69.
The tournament concludes Monday with rounds two and three beginning at 9:00 a.m. with a shotgun start, as teams will play 36 holes of continuous play.
