FSC Athletics Update - February 3

FARMINGDALE, N.Y. | The Skyline Conference released its weekly basketball reports Monday, and Farmingdale State College men's basketball player Michael Notias (Sr.; Manhasset, N.Y.), and women's basketball student-athlete Mia Simmons (Jr.; Queens, N.Y.) received honorable mention praise for their performances over the last seven days.

Farmingdale State picked up a pair of convincing Skyline Conference victories, defeating Mount Saint Mary at home on Wednesday, 89-40, before dispatching Mount Saint Vincent on the weekend in the Bronx on Saturday, 99-70.

Senior guard Michael Notias (Manhasset, N.Y.) received honorable mention kudos from both the Skyline and the Met Basketball Writers Association, as he became the 10th Rams player to score 1,000 career points with his second-half 3-pointer midweek against the Knights. Saturday against the Dolphins, his 11 assists tied for the second-most in a game in program history (record: Matthew Graham, at St. Joseph's-Brooklyn - December 10, 2015).

Two home Skyline Conference games dot FSC's slate this week, including Wednesday's 7 p.m. tip-off against fellow conference once-beaten Sarah Lawrence College, and Saturday's 1 p.m. start on Alumni Day versus Old Westbury.

After dropping a midweek decision at the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, the Rams responded Saturday with a 61-47, home victory over defending Skyline champion Mount Saint Mary – marking Farmingdale State's first regular-season sweep over the Knights since the 2014-15 campaign.

Playing a big hand in finishing off the sweep was junior guard Mia Simmons (Queens, N.Y.), whose career-high 28 points against MSMC helped her to an honorable mention citation from the Skyline.

FSC's lone game of the week is an important battle in the middle of the Skyline standings, as it travels Wednesday night for a 7 p.m. tilt at Sarah Lawrence.

After having an off week from competition, Farmingdale State returns to action Friday at the Coast Guard Academy's Winter Invite No. 2. The meet will serve as the Rams' final preparations for the New Jersey Athletic Conference Championships, which are set for February 21-22 in Philadelphia.
