FARMINGDALE, N.Y. | The Fourth-seeded Farmingdale State College women's basketball team forced 20 turnovers and limited fifth-seeded St. Joseph's University-Long Island to a 25.5 field goal percentage Wednesday night, as the Rams defeated the Golden Eagles, 43-37, in the first round of the 2026 Skyline Conference Championship.

With the victory, the Rams (15-11) advance to Friday's semifinal round, as they will travel to top-seeded Manhattanville University for a 5 p.m. tip-off in Purchase, N.Y. The game will be a ticketed event, and fans are strongly encouraged to purchase tickets ahead of time electronically. Further details will be available on SkylineConference.org within the next 24 hours.

A quick six-point spurt in the first quarter pushed FSC ahead of the visitors by an 8-3 score with 5:37 on the clock, as junior guard Mia Simmons (Queens, N.Y.) connected on a trio of baskets for all six of her first-half points. From there, St. Joseph's (15-11) closed the period with eight-consecutive points as part of a 14-0 spread that carried into the second quarter, before Rams senior forward Alexandria Walbroehl (Mastic Beach, N.Y.) connected on a jumper in the middle of the paint with 2:51 to go before halftime. Junior Samyah Allen (Queens Village, N.Y.) and sophomore Emily Tsiforas (Manhasset Hills, N.Y.) added buckets in the final 50 seconds to cut the hosts' deficit to 17-14 at the break.

Walbroehl (8 points, game-high-tying 15 rebounds, 2 blocked shots) and Tsiforas (6 pts., 7 reb., game-high 4 steals) scored back-to-back baskets in the first two minutes of third quarter to nudge the hosts back ahead, and the teams stayed within five points of one another before FSC carried a 29-26 lead into the final 10-minute frame.

Senior All-Skyline point guard and Defensive Player of the Year, Shyann Parker (Floral Park, N.Y.) knocked down a pair of free throws just over two minutes in to start an 11-5 spurt that saw Farmingdale State ahead, 40-32, with 3:56 left. St. Joseph's ran off the next five points to pull to within a 40-37 margin on a 3-point field goal with 45 seconds left by Isabelle Lebron. From there, sophomore Brianna Amenta (Oceanside, N.Y.) canned a pair of free throws with 17 ticks to go, before Parker's single freebie accounted for the final score.

Simmons (7-of-16 FG) led all scorers with 16 points on the night, while Amenta's strong defense guarding the Golden Eagles' point guards coming in the second half led to two steals for the sophomore.
