Women's Basketball Clinches Fourth Seed for Playoffs with Win at Old Westbury

OLD WESTBURY, N.Y. | The Farmingdale State College women's basketball team closed out their regular season schedule with a 74-59 victory at Old Westbury on Saturday afternoon. FSC finished at 14-11 overall and 12-8 in conference play and have secured the fourth seed in the upcoming Skyline Conference Championship.

Farmingdale State took an 18-15 lead into the second quarter and outscored the Panthers (2-20, 1-19 Skyline), 18-9, to take a 12-point advantage. After Old Westbury scored the opening basket in the second, five consecutive points from senior forward Alexandria Walbroehl (Mastic Beach, N.Y.) and baskets by junior forward Samyah Allen (Queens Village, N.Y.) and sophomore guard Brianna Amenta (Oceanside, N.Y.) gave the Rams a 27-17 advantage. Still leading by 10, 29-19, Amenta knocked down a 3-pointer to go ahead by 13.

FSC took a 36-24 edge into halftime and were up 50-39 after three quarters.

The Rams led by as many as 20 in the fourth as they earned the 74-59 Skyline Conference victory.

Farmingdale State had three players score in double figures, led by junior guard Mia Simmons' (Queens, N.Y.) 20-point performance. She made nine field goals and added five rebounds and two steals in 37 minutes of action. Walbroehl recorded 15 points and eight rebounds, while Allen produced 14 points, six rebounds and two steals. Amenta contributed seven points off the bench and senior guard Shyann Parker (Floral Park, N.Y.) chipped in with six points, seven rebounds, two assists and two steals in the win.

The Rams have clinched the fourth seed for the Skyline Conference playoffs and will host fifth-seeded St. Joseph's-Long Island in a First Round matchup. The full playoff schedule will be announced later this evening on SkylineConference.org.
