Conroy, Evans Record Double-Doubles as Men's Basketball Defeats USMMA

FARMINGDALE, N.Y. | Senior guard Sean Conroy (Staten Island, N.Y.) and junior forward Kentrell Evans (Brooklyn, N.Y.) both recorded double-doubles on Wednesday evening as the Farmingdale State College men's basketball team earned a 92-78 Skyline Conference victory over visiting Merchant Marine. The Rams improved to 21-3 overall and 14-1 in conference play with the win.

FSC led 12-10 four minutes in before hitting four consecutive 3-pointers, including two from junior forward Liam Buckley (Manhasset, N.Y.), to jump ahead 24-10.

Merchant Marine (7-17, 4-11 Skyline) responded with an 11-2 run over the next five minutes to trim the deficit to five, 26-21, with 9:06 to play in the first half. Conroy answered with a jumper and senior guard Michael Notias (Manhasset, N.Y.) knocked down a 3-pointer to push the lead back to double digits. 

Leading 44-33, Conroy connected on a 3 to give the Rams a 47-33 advantage heading into the halftime break.

Farmingdale State extended its lead to as many as 24 in the second half as each team scored 45 points in the final 20 minutes. The Rams led 62-47 with 13:43 on the clock and used an 11-2 run, capped by a Notias 3-pointer, to take a commanding 73-49 advantage.

Farmingdale State maintained a double-digit lead the rest of the way en route to the 92-78 win.

Conroy finished with 20 points, six rebounds and a season-high 10 assists. His assist total tied for the fifth highest single-game mark in program history. Evans recorded 17 points, 10 rebounds and three assists shooting 8-for-11 from the field. Buckley went 7-for-8 from the floor, including a perfect 3-for-3 from behind the arc, as he produced 17 points and eight rebounds, while Notias totaled 16 points, three rebounds and three assists in the victory.

The Rams will next play host to Maritime in a Skyline Conference matchup on Saturday, February 21st at 1:00 p.m. on Senior Day.
