Farmingdale State - 92, St. Joseph's-Brooklyn - 60
FARMINGDALE, N.Y. | The Farmingdale State men's basketball team returned to action on Saturday afternoon and cruised to a 92-60 Skyline Conference victory over St. Joseph's-Brooklyn. The Rams improved to 9-2 overall and 2-0 in conference play with the win.
Prior to game, FSC hosted its eighth annual CYO Day, welcoming youth teams from across Long Island for a free basketball clinic and pizza party led by Farmingdale State coaches and student-athletes. Over 100 boys and girls attended for the second consecutive year.
The Rams held a 35-32 advantage late in the first half before closing on a 7-0 run to take a 42-32 lead into the break. With 1:48 on the clock, junior guard
Derek Reed (Shinnecock, N.Y.) connected on a jumper and a free-throw, followed by a deep 3-pointer from senior guard
Sean Conroy (Staten Island, N.Y.). Sophomore forward
Jordan Tucker (Elmont, N.Y.) then stole the ensuing inbound pass and was fouled, hitting 1-of-2 at the free throw line give FSC a 10-point lead.
Farmingdale State opened the second half on a 10-2 run, highlighted by a pair of 3's by senior guard
Michael Notias (Manhasset, N.Y.), to quickly go ahead by 18, 52-34.
The Rams pushed their margin to 19 at 59-40 with 14:34 remaining and extended the advantage following a Conroy 3 and a layup by freshman forward
Dylon Stanley (Lynbrook, N.Y.).
FSC maintained at least a 20-point lead over the final 12:27 as they went on for the 92-60 Skyline Conference victory.
Notias led all scorers with 15 points, five assists and three steals, while junior forward
Kentrell Evans (Brooklyn, N.Y.) recorded a double-double with 12 points and 13 rebounds. Junior forward
Liam Buckley (Manhasset, N.Y.) added 12 points, four assists and four rebounds and Conroy hit a trio of 3's, finishing with 11 points and five rebounds. Stanley chipped in with 11 points, while Tucker ended with eight points off the bench.
Farmingdale State will next play host to St. Joseph's-Long Island for a Skyline Conference game on Wednesday, January 7th at 7:00 p.m.
