NEW YORK | The Farmingdale State College men's basketball team saw its eight-game winning streak snapped Saturday night, as the Rams fell to host Yeshiva University, 84-60, in a battle of the top two teams in the Skyline Conference standings.
Yeshiva (10-8, 9-0 Skyline) hit 10 of its first 15 shots to start the game, including five of its first six 3-pointers, to race out to a 28-11 lead midway through the first half. FSC (14-3, 7-1)Â responded with a 14-6 run of their own, including four points apiece by sophomore
James Notias (Manhasset, N.Y.) and senior
Sean Conroy (Staten Island, N.Y.), to cut their deficit to single digits at 34-25 with 2:26 remaining. Following a layup by the Maccabees, FSC sophomore
Jordan Tucker (Elmont, N.Y.) canned a pair of free throws with 22 seconds left to bring the visitors to within a 36-27 count at halftime.
The two teams exchanged seven-point runs across the first three minutes of the second half, before YU later knocked down three straight shots from 3-point range in extending its lead to 67-42 at the 9:51 mark.
Conroy netted 11 of his team-high 16 points in the first half for the Rams, with senior
Robbie Siechen (Syracuse, N.Y.) adding 13 points off the bench. Fellow senior guard
Michael Notias (Manhasset, N.Y.) chipped in with 12 points and six assists, while junior forward
Kentrell Evans (Brooklyn, N.Y.) led all players with 11 rebounds.
Farmingdale State returns home Wednesday night (Jan. 28), when it plays host to Skyline foe Mount Saint Mary College at 7.
