Adonias Mercado (Hillsdale, N.Y.) registered qualifying marks for the All-Atlantic Regional Championships in the shot put and weight throw, while
Daniel Bamfo (Sr.; Lake Grove, N.Y.) and
Christian Destine (Fr.; Rosedale, N.Y.) each qualified in the triple jump, as the Farmingdale State College indoor track and field teams competed Saturday at the Coast Guard Winter Invitational.
Mercado won the shot put with a mark of 15.20 meters (49-10.5), and placed second with his 17.42m (57-2) toss in the weight throw. Bamfo and Destine reached the regional qualifying standard in the triple jump by placing first (13.82m; 45-4.25) and second (13.51m; 44-4), respectively.
Sophomore
Davian Rodriguez (West Islip, N.Y.) won the 55 meter hurdles in a time of 8.18 seconds, while junior
Gabriel Aguilar (Levittown, N.Y.) moved to No. 9 on Farmingdale State's all-time performance list by completing the 3,000 meter run in a time of 9:42.98. Sophomore
Aaron Rivera clocked a time of 2:06.26 to place fourth in the 800 meter run, with junior
Matthew Rintoul (Lake Grove, N.Y.) placing fifth with his time of 2:07.69.
In the women's competition, junior
Mishell Delgado (Bronx, N.Y.) cleared a fourth-place height of 2.70 meters (8-10.25), while reigning New Jersey Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week, freshman
Amelia Vitale (Hauppauge, N.Y.), placed fifth in the 800 meter run (2:33.02).
The Rams' teams are back in action in the Nutmeg State next Saturday (Jan. 24), when they travel to New Haven for the William Sutherland Invitational.
