Lambert Sets Career RBI Record in Baseball's Split with Old Westbury

Game 1: Old Westbury 2, Farmingdale State 1 (12 inn.)
Game 2: Farmingdale State 9, Old Westbury 2
FARMINGDALE, N.Y. | Senior first baseman Jordan Lambert (Plainview, N.Y.) set the Farmingdale State College baseball program's career runs batted in record on Sunday, as the Rams split a Skyline Conference doubleheader versus SUNY Old Westbury. The Panthers knocked off FSC in a 2-1, 12-inning marathon to start the afternoon, before the Rams responded with a 9-2 triumph in the nightcap.

Lambert notched a pair of RBI in the second game, and has now driven in 117 runs across his four-plus year career. He entered the afternoon tied for the career mark with FSC Athletics Hall of Famer Kevin Curtis, who registered 115 RBI during his 2008-11 stint with the program.

Game 1

Lambert scored Farmingdale State's lone run of the opening tilt in the top of the second inning when he crossed the plate on a two-out single by classmate Justin DiMartino (Bethpage, N.Y.).

Old Westbury (11-9, 2-4) countered with a single run in the bottom of the fourth against FSC senior pitcher Johnny Dougherty (Kings Park, N.Y.), who tossed eight innings of six-hit ball while fanning nine Panthers hitters.

FSC had runners at third base in both the ninth and 11th innings, but were unable to break the deadlock. A two-out run in the bottom of the 12th allowed the Panthers to capture the 2-1 victory in the opening contest.

Junior catcher Ryan Plocker (Dix Hills, N.Y.) picked up a pair of hits for Farmingdale State, while junior righty Greg Friedman (Wading River, N.Y.) fired three innings of one-hit, six-strikeout ball in relief of Dougherty.

Game 2

In the seven-inning finale, FSC (12-8, 3-1 Skyline) jumped out to a 6-0 lead after four innings of play to support junior pitcher Derek Torres (Massapequa, N.Y.). Senior Patrick Dallas (Patchogue, N.Y.) gave the Rams the lead for good in the second inning by scoring classmate Matthew Flood (Islip, N.Y.) on a one-out single to right-center field, before juniors Richie Heyder (Holbrook, N.Y.) and Christopher Sais (Hicksville, N.Y.) both scored in the top of the third. Dallas put his team up 4-0 in the fourth inning when he scored on an outfield error, before Lambert's record-setting single through the left side of the infield scored Heyder and junior Christian Villacci (Smithtown, N.Y.).

FSC tacked on three more runs in the top of the seventh to put the game away as they went on for the 9-2 win.

Heyder (2 R), Lambert and Dallas collected two hits apiece in the victory, while Flood scored a pair of runs. Torres moved his record to 2-2 on the mound with a 5.2-inning outing in which he scattered three hits and as many walks, while junior lefty Michael Camardi (Syosset, N.Y.) notched three strikeouts over the final 1.1 innings to earn his first save of the campaign.

Skyline play resumes for Farmingdale State next Saturday (April 12), when it plays host to a noontime doubleheader against Purchase College.
