Dorosh, Watts Lead FSC to Doubleheader Sweep of MSMC

Game 1: Farmingdale State 7, Mount Saint Mary 0
Game 2: Farmingdale State 5, Mount Saint Mary 4
FARMINGDALE, N.Y. | The Farmingdale State College baseball team earned a doubleheader sweep of Mount Saint Mary College on Saturday in Farmingdale, N.Y. Starting pitchers Roman Dorosh (Holbrook, N.Y. - W, 1-1, 6.0 IP, 0 R, 2 SO) and Derek Watts (Baldwin, N.Y. - W, 3-1, 7.1 IP, 2 R, 6 SO) combined for 13.1 innings of two-run ball as they guided FSC to 7-0 and 5-4 victories. The Rams improved to 11-7 overall and 4-0 in Skyline Conference play, while the Knights dropped to 11-12-1, 5-3.

Game 1

The Farmingdale State offense provided Dorosh with three runs in the second inning and four in the third as they went on for the 7-0 win. In the bottom of the second, sophomore Ryan Tam (Wantagh, N.Y.) led off with a walk and scored on a throwing error by the Knights. Later in the inning, back-to-back RBI singles by senior third baseman Tyler DiRocco (Commack, N.Y.) and freshman shortstop Kaolis Delacruz (Levittown, N.Y.) gave FSC a 3-0 advantage.

After a quick 1-2-3 top of the third by Dorosh, senior left fielder Justin DiMartino (Bethpage, N.Y.) was hit-by-pitch, stole second base, and scored on an RBI single from junior catcher Ryan Plocker (Dix Hills, N.Y.). After a hit and stolen base by junior center fielder Mike Kocovic (Mahopac, N.Y.), a pair of wild pitches scored both runners and gave FSC a 6-0 edge. DiRocco followed with a walk before scoring on a triple by junior right fielder Richie Heyder (Holbrook, N.Y.) to go up by seven.

Dorosh held MSMC off the board over the next three innings before junior Derek Torres (Massapequa, N.Y.) pitched a perfect seventh inning to secure the 7-0 victory.

DiRocco (two walks), Delacruz, and Heyder (two walks) each finished with one hit and one RBI, while Plocker and Kocovic produced a hit and two runs apiece.

The Knights were held to just five hits by the Rams' pitching staff in defeat.

Game 2

Farmingdale State took an early 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning behind a two-out, two-run single by senior first baseman Jordan Lambert (Plainview, N.Y.).

Neither team scored over the next five innings before FSC extended their advantage to three on a sacrifice fly by DiRocco in the seventh.

Mount Saint Mary pulled two back in the eighth on a single and a hit-by-pitch as they closed the gap to 3-2.

The Rams responded in the bottom of the inning as Lambert recorded an RBI double and later scored on a single by senior catcher Justin Porrino (Locust Valley, N.Y.) to make it 5-2.

DiRocco (Sv, 3) moved from third base to pitch the top of the ninth and, after allowing a pair of runs, secured the 5-4 win by inducing a double play to end the game.

Watts pitched into the eighth inning, tossing 7.1 innings to earn his third win of the season.

Lambert recorded two hits, one run scored and three runs batted in to lead FSC. He has now tied the program's all-time mark with 115 career RBI's (Kevin Curtis - 2008-2011). Delacruz produced two more hits in the second game and increased his batting average to .409 in 2025, while Porrino chipped in with two hits and an RBI.

The Rams are right back at it tomorrow (April 6) with a Skyline Conference doubleheader against SUNY Old Westbury. The doubleheader has changed locations and will now be played at Farmingdale State with the Rams as the away team. First pitch is slated for 12:00 p.m.
