RESULTS
WILLIMANTIC, Conn. | The Farmingdale State men's and women's outdoor track and field teams competed at the Bonnie Edmondson Classic, hosted by Eastern Connecticut State University on Friday. The Rams earned a third place finish on the men's side and took fifth in the women's meet out of 12 teams. Host Eastern Connecticut won both meets, while Rhode Island College claimed second in each. This was the final competition for Farmingdale State before hosting the Skyline Conference Championship on Sunday, April 27.
The men posted three victories with sophomore thrower
Adonias Mercado (Hillsdale, N.Y.) continuing his strong season and posting wins in both the shot put (14.94m - 49' 0.25") and discus (48.53m - 159' 3"). Both marks were career-bests as he improved his No. 3 all-time mark in the shot put and tallied the fifth furthest discus throw in program history. Mercado is now first in the Metro Region and 31st in Division III in the discus.
Throwers
Jahvirye Wilks (Farmingdale, N.Y. - 13.09m) and
Xavier Myers (West Babylon, N.Y. - 37.90m) contributed fourth and fifth place finishes in the shot put and discus, respectively, and combined to earn nine FSC points.
Junior
Samuel Aladegboungbe (Bay Shore, N.Y.) recorded Farmingdale State's other win as he placed first in the 400m hurdles in a regional-qualifying time of 55.28. Freshman
Davian Rodriguez (West Islip, N.Y.) led the Rams in the 110m high hurdles with a time of 15.97, good for third place.
Junior
Daniel Bamfo (Lake Grove, N.Y.) earned a runner-up finish in the triple jump and recorded eight points for the Rams. His distance of 13.36m (43' 10") is the longest for FSC this season and ranks 12th in the Metro Region.Â
Senior
Jovany Philippe (Huntington, N.Y.) placed fifth in the long jump with a mark of 6.68m (21' 11").
Freshman
Jack Lengyel (Cheshire, Conn.) ran in the 3000m and took 10th in 10:05.98. He also competed in the 1500m and was eighth in 4:26.53.
Finally, freshman
Nathaniel White (Mamaroneck, N.Y.) led FSC with an eighth place time in the 400m (52.04).
On the women's side, freshman thrower
Victoria DeGraw (Kerhonkson, N.Y.) once again led the way with career-high's in the discus (36.88m - 121'), shot put (10.96m - 35' 11.5") and hammer (38.96m - 127' 10"). She extended her own school record in the discus and earned second place. In the shot put, DeGraw moved into sixth on the all-time list, and in the hammer throw, she finished in ninth place and is now sixth in program history.Â
Senior
Olivia Finnegan (Massapequa, N.Y.) and sophomore
Treesha Jayakody (Jamaica, N.Y.) produced third (9.96m - 32' 8.25") and fourth (9.77m - 32' 0.75") place in the triple jump. Finnegan's mark is a career-best and is 11th all-time at FSC.
Sophomore
Mishell Delgado (Bronx, N.Y.) registered a pair of top-8 finishes to earn points for the Rams. She took fifth in the 400m hurdles in 1:16.19 and seventh in the pole vault with a height of 2.20m (7' 2.5").
Senior
Alexxis McNeil (Valley Stream, N.Y.) led FSC sprinters in the 100m in 13.08 seconds. Sophomore
Ifeoluwa Longe (Roosevelt, N.Y.) was the second FSC student-athlete in 13.29 seconds. Longe also competed in the 200m and took 14th in 27.96.
In addition, the women's 4x100m relay team of Finnegan, Longe, sophomore
Amora Brown (Babylon, N.Y.), and McNeil placed second in 53.70 seconds.
The Rams next host the Skyline Conference Championship on Sunday, April 27th. The women will look for their seventh consecutive title, while the men go for their second straight Championship.
