RESULTS
NEW HAVEN, Conn. | The FSC men's and women's outdoor track and field teams competed at Southern Connecticut's Wilton Wright Invitational on Saturday and three Rams earned victories. The men finished with a score of 61, good for sixth out of 16 competing teams, while the women placed 11th with 11 total points.
FSC tallied three wins on the men's side with sophomore
Gabriel Aguilar (Levittown, N.Y.) taking first in the 3000m steeplechase. He broke the tape in 10:33.93, a mark that ranks ninth all-time in program history. Freshman
Jack Lengyel (Cheshire, Conn.), who was victorious last week, came in third place in the event in 11:05.66 and senior
Jonathan Engelhardt (Kings Park, N.Y. - 11:41.07) tallied sixth out 11 competitors.
Junior
Samuel Aladegboungbe (Bay Shore, N.Y.) earned the win in the 400m hurdles in 56.71 seconds, while freshman
Davian Rodriguez (West Islip, N.Y.) was third in 59.55. Rodriguez also competed in the 110m high hurdles and was fifth in 15.83.
The Rams third win of the day came in the discus as sophomoreÂ
Adonias Mercado (Hillsdale, N.Y.) posted a throw of 45.74m (150' 1") on his final throw of the day. Mercado also led FSC in the shot put, taking sixth place with a mark of 13.77m (45' 2.25").
Other notable finishes for Farmingdale State include freshman
Aaron Matos (East Meadow, N.Y.), who took sixth in the high jump with a height of 1.85m (6' 0.75"). Freshman
Daniel Akpan (Selden, N.Y.) was the top sprinter for the Rams, tallying 16th (11.65) in the 100m and 14th (23.38) in the 200m.
On the women's side, freshman thrower
Victoria DeGraw (Kerhonkson, N.Y.) posted a career-best in the shot put with her toss of 10.56m (34' 7.75"). She took 12th in the shot put and 10th (31.38m - 102' 11") in the discus in the cold and windy conditions.
Senior
Olivia Finnegan (Massapequa, N.Y.) produced a personal-best in the 200m dash with a time of 27.96 for fifth place, while senior
Sydnee Simmons (Uniondale, N.Y.) took sixth in the 400m in a season-low 1:06.04.
Finally, sophomore
Treesha Jayakody (Jamaica, N.Y.) led the Rams both the triple jump (11th - 9.64m) and long jump (24th - 4.30m), posting a pair of top-25 finishes.
The Rams will next compete on Friday, April 18th in their final meet before the Skyline Conference Championship on April 27.
