BROOKLYN, N.Y. | A run of 13-straight points early in the third quarter lifted the Farmingdale State College women's basketball team to its third-straight win on Wednesday night, as the Rams defeated Skyline Conference host St. Joseph's University-Brooklyn, 69-57.Â
FSC (13-8, 10-6 Skyline) trailed the Bears (7-13, 6-10), 35-34, just 1:16 into the third period. From there, the visitors scored the next 13 points, including six by senior guard
Erin Conte (Melville, N.Y.), to hold a 47-35 edge at the 5:29 mark. The Rams finished the quarter up 55-41, rounding out the frame with six-straight points, and St. Joseph's-Brooklyn did not get any closer than 13 points the rest of the way.
Farmingdale State started the game up 6-1 behind consecutive 3-pointers by sophomore guard
Mia Simmons (Queens, N.Y.) inside the first three minutes, before the Bears countered with a 7-0 spurt to go ahead by two. St. Joseph's finished the first quarter with seven-straight points as part of an 11-0 run that carried over into the second frame, and led 19-13 with 8:33 remaining before halftime. Alexandria Walbroehl (Mastic Beach, N.Y.) scored five points as part of a 9-0 spread to put the visitors ahead 26-24 at the 3:30 mark, as the Rams carried a 32-31 lead at the break.
Simmons led three Farmingdale State players in double-figure scoring with her 15-point output, while Walbroehl (11 pts., game-high 14 rebounds) and
Taneece Wooden (Freeport, N.Y.) each registered double-doubles – with the sophomore post adding 13 points and as many boards. Senior guard

Skyline play continues on the road for FSC on Sunday (Feb. 9), when it travels to Manhattan to play Yeshiva University in a 3 p.m. start at Baruch College's ARC Arena.
