STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. | The Farmingdale State men's and women's track and field teams opened the 2025-26 indoor season Friday afternoon at the Fastrack Season Opener at the Ocean Breeze Park Track & Field Complex.

Junior Adonias Mercado (Hillsdale, N.Y.) won the shot put with a career-best 15.86m (52' 0.50"), the second-best mark in program history and third-best in Division III this year. Mercado also placed fourth in the weight throw with a career-long mark of 16.69m (54' 9"), ranking fifth all-time in FSC history.

Freshman Xavier Anthony (Dix Hills, N.Y.) ran the 60 meter in 7.29 seconds to place 11th and tie for the 10th-best mark in school history. He also competed in the 200m and recorded a time of 23.73 seconds for 33rd. Sophomore Daniel Akpan (Selden, N.Y.) finished 22nd in the 60 meter in 7.47, while junior Matthew Alicea (Mamaroneck, N.Y.) was 25th in 7.54. Senior Dontay Taylor (Layou, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines) placed 13th in the 200 meter dash in 22.70.

In the 400 meter, junior Nathaniel White (Mamaroneck, N.Y.) finished 15th in 52.01. The 800 meter saw junior Matthew Rintoul (Lake Grove, N.Y.) place 18th in 2:06.00 and junior Gianni Nino (Wantagh, N.Y.) 22nd in 2:10.01.

In the mile run, sophomore Aaron Rivera (Levittown, N.Y.) tallied a 20th place finish in 4:45.68, sophomore Jack Lengyel (Cheshire, Conn.) was 23rd in 4:49.92, and junior Gabriel Aguilar (Levittown, N.Y.) placed 25th in 4:56.35.

The men's 4x800-meter relay team of Rivera, Gavin Calvo (Mastic, N.Y.), Aguilar, and Lengyel earned fifth in 8:51.52.

In the long jump, freshman Jaden Cesar (Queens, N.Y.) placed 18th with a jump of 6.49m (21' 3.50").

In the triple jump, senior Daniel Bamfo (Lake Grove, N.Y.) finished fourth with a mark of 14.20m (46' 7"). Cesar placed 10th in the triple jump (13.40m - 43' 11.50") and freshman Christian Destine (Rosedale, N.Y.) took 12th (13.09m - 42' 11.25").

On the women's side, junior Ifeoluwa Longe (Roosevelt, N.Y.) earned third in the 60-meter dash in 8.64 seconds and placed 34th in the 200 meter in 28.23. Senior Mia Harris (Manhattan, N.Y.) was eighth in the 60 meter in 8.87 and 39th in the 200 meter in 28.94.

Sophomore Alice Valenzuela (Elmont, N.Y.) finished eighth in the 400 meter in 1:01.52 and freshman Amelia Vitale (Hauppauge, N.Y.) ran 2:31.62 in the 800 meter.

In the shot put, sophomore Victoria DeGraw (Kerhonkson, N.Y.) placed 11th with a toss of 10.79m (35' 4.75"), junior Ashley Toro (Islip, N.Y.) was 24th with 9.29m (30' 5.75"), and sophomore Kayla Quinn (Westbury, N.Y.) finished 25th with 9.12m (29'11"). Toro also led the Rams in the weight throw with a mark of 10.50m (34' 5").

The track and field teams next compete at the Art Kadish Elm City Challenge at Southern Connecticut State University on Friday and Saturday, December 12th and 13th.
