Farmingdale State - 3, St. Joseph's-Brooklyn - 1 (25-15, 25-20, 23-25, 25-15)
BROOKLYN, N.Y. | The Farmingdale State women's volleyball team earned a 3-1 Skyline Conference victory at St. Joseph's-Brooklyn on Saturday afternoon. With the win, the Rams improved to 15-8 overall and 7-3 in conference play with one regular season match remaining.
After taking the first set by a 25-15 decision, the Rams trailed 20-17 in the second before storming back with eight consecutive points behind the serving of junior defensive specialist Allison Salinas (Glen Cove, N.Y.) to take the set, 25-20, and a 2-0 lead. Salinas sparked the rally with back-to-back aces before Farmingdale State followed with four kills.
Following a 25-23 third set win by the Bears (10-10, 5-5 Skyline), Farmingdale State controlled the fourth from the start, capturing a 25-15 win to secure the 3-1 conference victory.
Senior middle blocker Lauren Offermann (North Babylon, N.Y.) led the Rams with 12 kills and two solo blocks, while sophomore outside hitter Samantha Russo (Bay Shore, N.Y.) recorded a double-double with 12 kills, three aces and 19 digs. Freshman middle blocker Alana Henry (Amityville, N.Y.) added 10 kills and two blocks, and junior outside hitter Sarah Kollarik (Levittown, N.Y.) tallied eight kills and 15 digs. Senior setter Sarah Rende (Wantagh, N.Y.) guided the offense with 35 assists and 16 digs, and Salinas posted a team-high four service aces to go with eight digs.
Farmingdale State will wrap up regular season play on Wednesday, November 5th, when they host Yeshiva for a Skyline Conference match at 7:00 p.m.
