FARMINGDALE, N.Y. | The Farmingdale State women's volleyball team earned its fifth consecutive 3-0 victory on Thursday evening, defeating Merchant Marine in straight sets by scores of 25-21, 25-23 and 26-24. With the win, the Rams improved to 12-6 overall and 4-2 in conference play, while the Mariners dropped to 11-9, 5-2.

In the opening set, Farmingdale State was down 21-20 and tallied the final five points to take the early 1-0 lead. FSC used kills from freshman middle Alana Henry (Amityville, N.Y. - x2) and senior setter Sarah Rende (Wantagh, N.Y.), along with a pair of USMMA errors, to close out the set 25-21.

The second set was knotted at 20-20 before Henry registered three straight kills from Rende to go up 23-20. The Rams captured their 24th point on a kill from sophomore outside Samantha Russo (Bay Shore, N.Y.) before a Merchant Marine attack error sealed the 25-23 win for FSC.

In the third, the Rams overcame a 24-22 deficit to complete the sweep as they forced the Mariners into four consecutive errors to take the set, 26-24.

Henry led FSC with 14 kills and a block for a match-high 15 points. Rende recorded seven kills, 28 assists, two aces and six digs, while junior outside hitter Sarah Kollarik (Levittown, N.Y.) produced five kills and 14 digs. Russo tallied four kills and 10 digs and senior middle blocker Lauren Offermann (North Babylon, N.Y.) chipped in with three kills. On defense, senior libero Delaney Keegan (Lake Grove, N.Y.) registered a match-high 19 digs, while junior defensive specialist Allison Salinas (Glen Cove, N.Y.) finished with nine digs and two aces.
