Women's Volleyball Sweeps King's (Pa.) College in Non-Conference Match

Farmingdale State - 3, King's - 0 (25-20, 25-16, 25-21)

FARMINGDALE, N.Y. | The Farmingdale State women's volleyball team picked up a 3-0 sweep in non-conference play on Wednesday evening, defeating King's (Pa.) College. The Rams used 25-20, 25-16, and 25-21 wins to earn their third consecutive victory and improve to 10-6 overall.

In the opening set, Farmingdale State trailed 19-17 and used a late 8-1 run to earn the 25-20 win. Seniors Sarah Rende (Wantagh, N.Y.) and Lauren Offermann (North Babylon, N.Y.) closed the set with back-to-back kills to seal the win.

The Rams took control of the second set with an early 8-2 run, including five consecutive points behind strong serving from senior libero Delaney Keegan (Lake Grove, N.Y.). They maintained the lead the rest of the way to take the set, 25-16.

Farmingdale State closed out the match in the third, breaking away from a 17-17 tie with a decisive 5-0 run highlighted by a kill from Offermann, an ace from sophomore Samantha DiBiasi (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) and a solo block by freshman Alana Henry (Amityville, N.Y.). Sophomore outside Samantha Russo (Bay Shore, N.Y.) later finished the match with a kill for the 25-21 victory.

Russo tallied a team-high 11 kills to go with two blocks and 18 digs, while Rende recorded 31 assists, six kills, and two aces. Henry and junior outside Sarah Kollarik (Levittown, N.Y.) each finished with nine kills, and Keegan collected a team-best 20 digs and three service aces. Offermann finished with a .313 hitting percentage and six kills in the victory.

The Rams hit .192 as a team and totaled nine service aces and seven team blocks.

The women's volleyball team will next travel to Purchase College for a Skyline match on Tuesday, October 14th at 7:00 p.m.
