FARMINGDALE, N.Y. |Â The Farmingdale State College women's basketball team lost to visiting Manhattanville University, 66-61, in Skyline Conference play on Saturday afternoon.

Mia Simmons (Jamaica, N.Y.) knocked down a 3-pointer from the right wing 4:26 into the game, before the Valiants (10-4, 7-3) ran off six-straight points to level the game with 3:06 left in the first quarter. Senior forward
Alexandria Walbroehl (Mastic Beach, N.Y.) knocked down a pair of free throws and a jumper in the Rams' next two possessions as part of a 10-3 spurt to close the period, as the hosts led after 10 minutes of play, 20-13.
After Manhattanville closed to within a 23-21 margin less than three minutes into the second quarter, FSC received consecutive layups by senior guards
Erin Conte (Melville, N.Y.) and
Gemma Pohalski (Huntington, N.Y.) in the next two trips down the floor to extend its lead back to six. The Rams ended the half ahead by a 35-27 count, with Walbroehl finishing off her 13-point half with a turnaround jumper in the middle of the paint in the closing seconds.
Conte and Walbroehl scored the first field goals of the second half, before the Valiants stormed back with a 16-4 run to knot the score at 43-all with 1:56 left in the third quarter. From there, Farmingdale State senior guard
Isabella Greenwald (West Islip, N.Y.) buried a 3-pointer and Walbroehl hit a jumper in the paint, en route to a 48-46 lead with 10 minutes to play.
Manhattanville scored the first six points of the fourth quarter to register its first lead of the game, 50-48, with 6:28 left. After FSC sophomore
Taneece Wooden (Freeport, N.Y.) sank a pair at the charity stripe to tie the score 17 seconds later, the Valiants went ahead for good and went ahead by seven, 60-53, with 43 ticks on the clock. The Rams closed to within two points when Wooden hit a layup out of a time out with 34 seconds remaining, before burying a trey from the left wing two seconds later after a Walbroehl offensive board off a missed free throw. Manhattanville closed out the game by hitting all six of its attempts at the free-throw line in the final 28 seconds.
Walbroehl finished the afternoon with a career-high 19 points to go with eight rebounds, with Pohalski scoring 11 and finishing with a game-best nine boards. Wooden and Simmons scored nine points apiece, while the Rams received seven rebounds each from Greenwald and junior guard
Shyann Parker (Floral Park, N.Y.). Farmingdale State's 45-37 rebounding edge led to holding a 14-5 margin in second-chance points.
