FARMINGDALE, N.Y. | The Farmingdale State College women's lacrosse team fell in the opening half of its back-to-back Skyline Conference home games on Tuesday afternoon, as the Rams dropped a 15-14 decision in overtime to Maritime College.
The contest featured nine ties and three lead changes, with FSC (4-8, 1-2 Skyline) jumping out to a 3-0 lead just four minutes in behind a pair of goals from senior
Ashley Codispoti (Patchogue, N.Y.) and one from freshman
Olivia Cassese (Farmingdale, N.Y.). The Privateers (6-2, 3-0) responded with a four-goal run, before Rams freshman attacker
Carly Livingston (Farmingdale, N.Y.) connected on her first goal of the day to level the score at 4-4 with 3:37 left in the opening period.
Maritime led by two goals after the opening quarter, with Farmingdale State tying the game at 7-7 with goals by Livingston and sophomore
Emily Sohm (Seaford, N.Y.) at the 6:54 and 5:54 marks before halftime, respectively.
Livingston's second tally of the third period came with 2:30 on the clock, and gave the hosts a 10-9 edge heading into the last quarter.Â
The fourth period went back-and-forth between the two sides, as FSC held a 12-10 lead five minutes in following consecutive goals by Cassese and Codispoti. Maritime tied the game at 12 with 6:09 left in regulation, before Cassese responded 21 seconds later to finish off her hat trick and put the Rams back in front by one goal. After the Privateers went ahead by a 14-13 margin with 4:08 on the clock, Livingston's fifth goal of the afternoon came 30 seconds later when she converted an assist from junior

In the first leg of overtime, each team had one shot saved on the doorstep, including Rams sophomore netminder
Giavanna Stamatelo's (Levittown, N.Y.) stop on a free-position effort 1:42 into the extra session. Maritime controlled the midfield draw to start the second three-minute leg, and after the teams exchanged turnovers in rapid succession, the visitors netted the game-winning tally with 1:48 remaining.
Livingston tied for the game-high with six points on five goals and an assist, while Codispoti contributed five goals (4-of-5 FPG) and four controlled draws. Cassese registered two draw controls at the midfield circle, with junior defender
Sarah Fava (Lynbrook, N.Y.) leading all players with three caused turnovers. Stamatelo made 11 saves in her complete-game effort in the Rams' cage, including three in the fourth period.
The second leg of Farmingdale State's homestand takes place Wednesday night, when the Rams play host to Skyline foe SUNY Old Westbury in a 7 p.m. opening draw.Â
