Women's Lacrosse Cruises Past Old Westbury in Skyline Play

Farmingdale State - 18, Old Westbury - 5
FARMINGDALE, N.Y. | Freshman attacker Carly Livingston (Farmingdale, N.Y.) set a career-high with 11 points on a hat trick and eight assists on Wednesday night, as the Farmingdale State College women's lacrosse team cruised to an 18-5, Skyline Conference victory over visiting SUNY Old Wesbury.

After the Panthers (1-6, 0-4 Skyline) scored the first goal of the contest, FSC (5-8, 2-2) responded with two goals apiece from sophomore attack Emily Sohm (Seaford, N.Y.) and Livingston to close the quarter and take a 4-1 advantage.

Old Westbury closed the gap to two early in the second quarter, before Farmingdale State scored three consecutive goals – including two from senior midfielder Ashley Codispoti (Patchogue, N.Y.) – to take a 7-2 lead.

In the final 8:36 of the half, the Rams outscored the Panthers 4-1, with Sohm netting another pair to go along with single tallies by Codispoti and junior Hayley Romeo (Lindenhurst, N.Y.), to up the advantage to 11-3 at the break.

FSC scored three of the four goals in the third period to move their edge to 14-4. Sophomore Jordyn Neu (New Hyde Park, N.Y.) and junior Molly Espey (West Hempstead, N.Y.) each tallied in the first seven minutes, before Livingston beat the buzzer for her 36th goal of the season off an assist from sophomore Krystal Sulin (Nesconset, N.Y.).

In the fourth quarter, Livingston assisted on all four Rams goals in the 15-minute stretch – including a pair by Neu and single tallies by Espey and Romeo – to account for the 18-5 final.

Codispoti controlled the midfield with seven points (3g, 4a), a game-high four caused turnovers and as many draw controls, while Sohm (4g, 1a) and Espey (2g, 3a, game-high 6 dc) finished the night with five points apiece. Sophomore Giavanna Stamatelo (Levittown, N.Y.) and senior Ronnie Reilly (Oceanside, N.Y.) played 30 minutes apiece in the FSC cage, directing a Rams defense that forced 29 turnovers by the Panthers.

Farmingdale State next travels to play Purchase College in a Skyline Conference game on Tuesday, April 16, at 7 p.m.
