RESULTS
KINGS POINT, N.Y. | The Farmingdale State women's and men's outdoor track & field teams placed second and third, respectively, at the US Merchant Marine Academy's Coach Omeltchenko Invitational on Sunday.
The women scored 69 points and finished 14 points ahead of USMMA. The men recorded 107 points and was just four points behind the Mariners.
St. Thomas Aquinas was victorious on both the men's and women's sides.
The FSC women posted two wins with freshman
Mishell Delgado (Bronx, N.Y.) earning the win in the pole vault and sophomore
Jada Pepanio (East Meadow, N.Y.) recording first in the long jump. Delgado recorded a height of 2.60m (8' 6.25"), a mark that ranks third all-time in program history, to pick up the victory.  Pepanio registered a career-best 4.99m (16' 4.5") in the long jump and is now tied for 10th in the Farmingdale State record books.
Senior
Alexxis McNeil (Valley Stream, N.Y.) tallied 16 points for the Rams with a pair of runner-up finishes in the 100m (13.60) and 200m (27.07) dashes.Â
The Rams earned 10 points from their distance runners as senior
Alycia Haynes (Adams Center, N.Y.) took fourth in the 1500m in 5:18.32, freshman
Kaitlin Slattery (Merrick, N.Y.) produced fifth in the 800m in 2.48.59 and sophomore
Loamy Maldonado (Brentwood, N.Y.) recorded seventh in the 3000m steeplechase in 17:36.61.
Freshman
Treesha Jayakody (Jamaica, N.Y.) cracked the FSC top-10 list with a mark of 9.83m (32' 3") in the triple jump, good for third place out of 15 competitors.
In the 400m,
Precious Akahara (Valley Stream, N.Y.) and
Nicole Pickett (Uniondale, N.Y.) finished in fifth (1:07.52 - four points) and eighth (1:09.40 - one point) for five points.
Junior throwerÂ
Madelyn Karman (Sayville, N.Y.) added four points for her fifth place finish in the hammer with a toss of 30.47m (100').
Finally, the women's 4x400m relay team of Slattery, Picket, Akahara and Haynes finished in third place (six points) in 4:38.18.
On the men's side, Farmingdale State recorded three wins. The 4x400m relay of
Samuel Aladegboungbe (Bay Shore, N.Y.),
Matthew Latimer (Wyandanch, N.Y.),
Daran Saul (Deer Park, N.Y.) and
Tristan Socias (Uniondale, N.Y.) produced a time of 3:27.60. They bested Queens College by almost 10 seconds to earn the win.
Sophomore
Nicholas Lourenco (Bay Shore, N.Y.) was victorious once again in the pole vault with a height of 4.57m (15'). Junior
Robert Kalinowski (Farmingdale, N.Y.) took second in the event for eight points (3.96m - 12' 11.75").
In addition, sophomore
Daniel Bamfo (Lake Grove, N.Y.) won the triple jump for the second consecutive week with a mark of 13.70m (44' 11.5").
Junior
Jovany Philippe (Huntington, N.Y.) tallied second in the long jump (6.62m - 21' 8.75") and fourth in the triple jump (12.27m - 40' 3.25") for 13 points. Junior
Isaiah Mehnert (West Babylon, N.Y.) added sixth in the triple jump (12.07m - 39' 7.25")Â for three points.Â
Latimer produced career-bests in both the 400m (50.13) and 200m (23.38), tallying second and fifth, respectively. Junior
Dontay Taylor (Saint Vincent and the Grenadines) finished sixth in the 200m in 23.45 and seventh in the 100m in 11.70.
Aladegboungbe recorded third in the 400m hurdles in a personal-best time of 59.54, while senior
Jahvirye Wilks (Farmingdale, N.Y.) took third in the hammer with a toss of 39.54m (129' 9").
Freshman throwerÂ
Adonias Mercado (Hillsdale, N.Y.) led the Rams in both the shot put (12.88m - 42' 3.25") and javelin (34.65m - 113' 8"), good for fourth and sixth place.
Finally, freshmen
Max Reilly (Levittown, N.Y. - 1500m, 4:27.67) and Steven Natainiel (Bay Shore, N.Y. - 110m Hurdles, 19.45) picked up seventh place finishes for FSC.
Farmingdale State will next compete at the Silfen Invitational at Connecticut College on Friday and Saturday, April 12-13.
