Game 2: Farmingdale State 12, St. Joseph's-Brooklyn 1 (7 inn.)
STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. | The Farmingdale State College baseball team swept a road Skyline Conference doubleheader Saturday afternoon, as the Rams moved their record to 16-9 overall and 9-3 in conference play with a pair of victories over St. Joseph's University-Brooklyn. FSC collected a 24-2 win in the opening contest, before capturing a 12-1 decision in seven innings in the second game to move its winning streak to seven-straight games.

Game 1

Senior right-handed pitcher Johnny Dougherty (Kings Park, N.Y.) moved to 6-1 on the season with a five-inning outing in which he scattered two unearned runs, four hits and one walk while striking out three Bears hitters. He was staked to all the run support he would need across the first two innings of action, as Farmingdale State plated seven in the first inning before adding nine more in the second frame.

The Rams sent 12 batters to the plate in their opening at-bat, with sophomore Ryan Wasserman (New Hyde Pk., N.Y.) scoring twice after reaching base on as many walks, while junior Chris McGuggart (Bethpage, N.Y.) collected a pair of singles and one RBI.

Dougherty retired all three hitters he faced in the bottom of the first, before FSC saw 13 hitters bat in its nine-run second. Senior Tyler DiRocco (Commack, N.Y.) hit a pair of RBI doubles during the span, with classmate Bobby Pollock (Manorville, N.Y.) collecting a hit, walk, run and stolen base.

DiRocco, who pitched the final two innings on the mound, batted 4-for-6 with three doubles, three runs and three RBI. Sophomore Greg Friedman (Shoreham, N.Y.) went 3-for-3 at the dish with two runs scored, while two-hit efforts were registered by McGuggart (2 R, 2 RBI), Pollock (2 R, 2 SB), and sophomore Justin Rindner (E. Meadow, N.Y.). Senior Joseph Pasqua (Williston Pk., N.Y.) notched his first FSC home run in the opener, while sophomore Richie Heyder (Holbrook, N.Y.) tied DiRocco for the game-high with three runs driven in.

Game 2

Farmingdale State picked up 11 more hits in the nightcap to support senior starting pitcher Roman Dorosh (Holbrook, N.Y.), who tossed five innings of three-hit, one-run ball while fanning six to move to 2-2 on the campaign.

Heyder (2-for-5, 2B, 3 RBI) drove in Wasserman with a single up the middle in the top of the first inning, before Wasserman's (1-for-3, 2 HBP) doubled the lead when his right-side ground out in the second brought Pasqua home.

After St. Joseph's pulled one run back in the bottom of the second, Pasqua launched his second homer of the day to right field in the top of the fourth inning to push the FSC lead back to two runs, at 3-1.

Farmingdale State added four runs in the fifth frame on a grand slam down the right-field line by senior Jordan Lambert (Plainview, N.Y.), the visitors plated four more runs in the sixth to put the game out of reach. McGuggart (2-for-4, 2 R) doubled down the left-field line to score junior catcher Justin Porrino (Locust Valley, N.Y.), before Heyder followed with a two-run double to the right-field corner to score Wasserman and McGuggart. Lambert rounded out the sixth-inning scoring when his infield single plated Heyder to up the lead to 11-1.

Porrino went 3-for-4 with a double in his appearance, with Pasqua finishing the nightcap with a 2-for-4 showing with two runs scored.
