Women's Lacrosse Bests Mount Saint Vincent

Farmingdale State 21, Mount Saint Vincent 11
RIVERDALE, N.Y. | Trailing by two early in the third period on Saturday afternoon, the Farmingdale State College women's lacrosse team exploded for 13 of the last 14 goals of its Skyline Conference game to defeat host Mount Saint Vincent, 21-11.

The visiting Rams (7-8, 4-2 Skyline) led 6-3 through one period of play, with sophomore attacker Emily Sohm (Seaford, N.Y.) scoring twice and freshman Carly Livingston (Farmingdale, N.Y.) dishing out a pair of assists during the opening 15 minutes against the Dolphins (4-9, 2-5).

After Livingston tallied the next two goals of the contest midway through the second quarter, Mount Saint Vincent put together a 7-0 run to hold a 10-8 advantage with 9:42 to go in the third period.

Farmingdale State responded with four-straight goals of its own, going ahead for good by a 12-10 count after three quarters of play. Senior midfielder Ashley Codispoti (Patchogue, N.Y.) fed junior Molly Espey (W. Hempstead, N.Y.) to start the spurt with 7:26 on the clock, before Codispoti's second goal of the day tied the contest at 10-all just 1:45 later. The Rams took the lead for good when Espey connected with junior Hayley Romeo (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) at the 4:45 mark, before Livingston followed suit with her third goal of the day at 3:33.

To start the fourth quarter, the Dolphins closed to within a 12-11 margin just 48 seconds into the resumption of play. From there, FSC kept the hosts off the scoresheet for the remainder of the afternoon as part of a game-closing 9-0 run. Sophomore Krystal Sulin (Nesconset, N.Y.) started the stretch off an assist from Livingston at the 13:00 mark, before Livingston collected three more goals inside an 84-second span to push the Farmingdale State lead to 16-11. Sohm scored two more times before the final horn, with Espey, Livingston and Romeo each finding the back of the net once more to round out the game.

Livingston notched her third-straight 10-point game, including a season-high seven goals, with Sohm (4g) and Espey (3g, a. 4 dc, 2 ct) adding four points apiece. Romeo and Codispoti (3 dc) both finished with two goals and an assist, while Sulin and sophomore Jordyn Neu (New Hyde Pk., N.Y.) ended the day with one goal and one assist apiece. Junior defender Kristin Stabiner (Queens, N.Y.) tied Espey for the team lead with two caused turnovers in front of sophomore goalie Giavanna Stamatelo (Levittown, N.Y.), who made eight saves in the FSC cage.

Head coach Erin Calkins's Rams will next play host to Senior Night on Wednesday, when they play host to Skyline foe Manhattanville University at 7 p.m.
