Men's Lacrosse Celebrates Senior Day With Victory vs. Purchase

Farmingdale State 22, Purchase 0
FARMINGDALE, N.Y. | The Farmingdale State College men's lacrosse team honored 11 student-athletes in its Senior Day ceremony Saturday afternoon, as the Rams won their seventh consecutive game with a 22-0, Skyline Conference victory over Purchase College.

Prior to the contest, FSC (13-2, 5-0 Skyline) recognized its 11 seniors: John Carnevale (E. Meadow, N.Y.); Trey Connolly (Seaford, N.Y.); Dan Erler (Smithtown, N.Y.); Jonathan Flores (W. Babylon, N.Y.); Antonio Kaminskey (Lindenhurst, N.Y.); Kyle Kolano (Babylon, N.Y.); Tanner Longo (Lloyd Harbor, N.Y.); Gino Luchetti (Farmingville, N.Y.); Gerardo Maldonado (W. Hempstead, N.Y.); Thomas Stock (Selden, N.Y.); and Rob Varello (Smithtown, N.Y.).

Kolano's unassisted goal opened the scoring 34 seconds into play, en route to a first-period hat trick as the Rams jumped out to a 9-0 advantage through one quarter of action. Freshman attacker Adam Giovinco (Syosset, N.Y.) buried his 50th goal of the season at the 11:19 mark, with Stock, Maldonado, Varello and sophomore Connor Murtha (Moriches, N.Y.) also finding the scoresheet within the first 15 minutes.

Farmingdale State – which held a 54-11 advantage in shots on the afternoon against the Panthers – collected six goals apiece in the second and third periods. The Rams won 20-of-25 face-offs in the game, as nine different players in the green and white scored goals on the afternoon.

Stock, the leading scorer in the Skyline Conference, finished the day with seven points on four goals and three assists, with Giovinco (2a), Varello, Kolano (1a) and sophomore Anthony Martino (Lk. Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) all notching hat tricks. Murtha (1a) and Maldonado both netted a pair of goals, with Carnevale and freshman Gregory Nelson (Levittown, N.Y.) each scoring once – including the first goal of Nelson's career.

Kaminskey won 14 of his 18 draws (.778) on the day, with Connolly finishing 4-for-5 at the "x." Erler made two saves in his 26-plus minutes of work to move to 13-2 on the year in the Farmingdale State cage.

The Rams' final week of regular-season Skyline Conference play will be contested on the road, beginning with Tuesday's 5:30 p.m. opening face-off at St. Joseph's University-Long Island.
