FARMINGDALE, N.Y. | The Farmingdale State College baseball team swept a home Skyline Conference doubleheader over Yeshiva University on Sunday afternoon, as the Rams (12-9, 5-3 Skyline) held the Maccabees (0-22, 0-16) to one run and seven hits combined over the 14 innings of play.
Game 1
Sophomore right-hander
Trevor Diamond (Miller Place, N.Y.) carried a no-hitter into the seventh inning of play for FSC, and faced just one batter over the minimum while issuing one walk and striking out nine YU hitters. The Rams staked Diamond to a three-lead after one inning of play, before adding seven more runs in the second to give the righty a double-digit advantage.
In total, 20 Farmingdale State student-athletes reached safely in the opener, including junior
Chris McGuggart (Bethpage, N.Y.), who went 4-for-4 with a double, four runs scored, two driven in and a stolen base. Sophomore
Richie Heyder (Holbrook, N.Y.) registered a 3-for-4 performance at the dish with a triple and four RBI, while two-hit outings were recorded by freshman Aidan Mehmel (Mastic Beach, N.Y.; 2 R), and seniors
