GALLOWAY, N.J. | The Farmingdale State College women's lacrosse team lifted the lid on its 2024 campaign Saturday afternoon, dropping a 15-7 decision to host Stockton University.

The teams combined for five goals in the first six minutes of the game, with freshman Carly Livingston (Farmingdale, N.Y.) opening her collegiate career with consecutive scores before senior Megan Diamond (Dix Hills, N.Y.) gave the Rams (0-1) a 3-2 lead with 9:04 left in the first quarter.

Stockton (2-0) netted the next two goals in player-up situations, starting a string of 10 consecutive strikes. The Ospreys held a 6-3 edge at halftime, and led 12-3 before FSC freshman Olivia Cassese (Farmingdale, N.Y.) registered her first college goal to stop the run with 1:50 to go in the third period.

The fourth period saw both sides score three goals apiece, with Livingston completing her hat trick off a feed from sophomore Kailee Coppola (Levittown, N.Y.) with 9:09 remaining, before junior Molly Espey (W. Hempstead, N.Y.) and senior Ashley Codispoti (Patchogue, N.Y.) scored at the 5:13 and 1:08 marks, respectively. 

Codispoti and Diamond finished with a goal and assist apiece, with Codispoti controlling a team and career-best six draws on the afternoon. Junior Lucienne Horrocks (Rutland, Vt.), senior Dominique Baldino (Island Pk., N.Y.) and Cassese caused two turnovers each in front of sophomore goalie Giavanna Stamatelo (Levittown, N.Y.), who made 15 saves in her Farmingdale State debut. Sophomore Emily Sohm (Seaford, N.Y.) picked up her first collegiate point 45 seconds into the game, when she assisted on Livingston's first goal. 

Head coach Erin Calkins's Rams are next in action Tuesday (Feb. 27), when they travel to Poughkeepsie, N.Y., for a 6 p.m. draw at Vassar College.
