Farmingdale State - 60, Old Westbury - 35
FARMINGDALE, N.Y. | The FSC women's basketball team earned a 60-35 victory over Old Westbury on Tuesday evening to pick up their fourth consecutive win. Farmingdale State improved to 9-10 overall and 7-7 in the Skyline Conference.
The Rams opened the game with back-to-back baskets by senior forward
Layla Mendoza (Westhampton Beach, N.Y.), freshman forward
Taneece Wooden (Freeport, N.Y.) and junior guard
Gemma Pohalski (Huntington, N.Y.) to jump out to a 6-0 advantage.
Leading 8-5, FSC closed the quarter on a 12-3 run, including four points apiece from Mendoza and senior guard
Emily Pohalski (Huntington, N.Y.), to take a 20-8 edge.
Farmingdale State registered 10 of the first 11 points in the second quarter to take a commanding 21-point advantage at 30-9.
Old Westbury (3-16, 2-13 Skyline) trailed 32-15 at the half and scored the opening layup in the third to cut their deficit to 15. The Rams responded with eight unanswered points to go up 40-17 with 3:40 to play in the quarter.
FSC held a 23-point lead, 47-24, and outscored the Panthers 13-11 in the fourth quarter en route to the 60-35 victory.
Mendoza led the way once again with a game-high 17 points, to go with six rebounds and three blocks. G. Pohalski produced nine points, nine rebounds and four steals, while Wooden recorded eight points, eight rebounds and three blocked shots. Sophomore guard

Mia Simmons (Jamaica, N.Y.) added six points apiece.
The women's basketball team will next play host to Mount Saint Mary College on Saturday, February 3rd at 1:00 p.m.
