Farmingdale State - 82, Old Westbury - 51
FARMINGDALE, N.Y. | The Farmingdale State men's basketball team rolled to an 82-51 Skyline Conference win over Old Westbury on Saturday afternoon. The Rams had 13 different scorers in the contest and improved to 8-1 on the season, including 2-0 in the Skyline.
Today was the Sixth Annual CYO Day at Farmingdale State as elementary teams from across Long Island attended a free basketball clinic and pizza party with coaches and players prior to tip-off.
FSC opened the game with eight straight points, including three apiece from forwards
Macai John (Hauppauge, N.Y.) and
Nick Hurowitz (Mount Sinai, N.Y.).
After a three-pointer by the Panthers (0-8, 0-2 Skyline), both junior forward
James Cosgrove (Franklin Square, N.Y.) and freshman forward
Liam Buckley (Manhasset, N.Y.) made jumpers to extend the lead to nine at 12-3.
Farmingdale State held a 28-19 advantage with 3:25 to play in the half and scored the final eight points to take a 17-point lead, 36-19, into the break.
FSC continued their run to start the second half, using seven consecutive points by John, to take a commanding 43-19 advantage.
The Rams led 50-28 with 13:45 on the clock before junior guard
Jevon Santos (Elmont, N.Y.) knocked down a 3-pointer and Buckley scored four straight points to extend the lead to 29.Â
Farmingdale State maintained at least a 27-point edge across the final 11 minutes as they went on for the 82-51 Skyline Conference victory.
John led the way for FSC with 18 points on 8-for-11 shooting and seven rebounds. Freshman forward
Kentrell Evans (Brooklyn, N.Y.) was one point shy of a double-double as he had nine points and 11 rebounds. Senior guard
Aaron Davis (Valley Stream, N.Y.) finished with nine points in limited minutes, while Hurowitz tallied eight points and nine rebounds. Sophomore guard
Michael Notias (Manhasset, N.Y.) recorded seven points and three assists and Santos produced six points, three assists and four steals. Buckley, senior guard
Kobe Thomas (Hicksville, N.Y.) and freshman forward
Colin Strohm (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y.) each added six points in the win.
The Rams will next head on the road to play non-conference opponent Baruch on Tuesday, December 12th at 8:00 p.m.
