Farmingdale State 83, Baruch 67
NEW YORK | Behind a 15-4 run over the first four minutes of the second half Tuesday night, the Farmingdale State College men's basketball team moved to 9-1 on the season with an 83-67, non-conference victory at Baruch College.
With the score tied at 8 seven minutes into play, the visiting Rams scored the next 15 points of the contest, capped a 3-pointer from sophomore
Michael Notias (Manhasset, N.Y.) at the 8:48 mark, to hold a 23-8 edge. The advantage got as high as 19 points when senior
Aaron Davis (Valley Stream, N.Y.) knocked down a trifecta with 3:40 remaining, before the Bearcats (4-6) clawed their way back into the contest by scoring the final 14 points of the half to slice FSC's lead to 36-31 at halftime.
From there, Farmingdale State restored order by coming out of the locker room to score 15 of the next 19 points, and went in front 51-35 on a fast-break lay-in by senior swingman
Nick Hurowitz (Mt. Sinai, N.Y.) with 15:58 left. The Rams remained in front by double figures for all but an 18-second stretch the rest of the way, with Baruch cutting its deficit to 70-61 with 4:46 to go, before Davis buried treys in two of FSC's next three trips down the floor keep his team in control of the contest.
Davis tied a career-high with five made 3-pointers on his way to a game-high 19 points, while Hurowitz registered his second double-double of the season with 14 points and as many rebounds. Notias went 5-of-7 from the field en route to a 13-point evening, while freshman
Kentrell Evans (Brooklyn, N.Y.) and senior
Corey Powell (Valley Stream, N.Y.) rounded out five FSC players to score in double figures with 10 points apiece. Senior point guard
Jevon Santos (Elmont, N.Y.) filled the stat sheet in directing the Farmingdale State offense with five points, six boards and eight assists. As a team, the Rams shot 50 percent (30-of-60) from the field, held a 47-34 edge on the glass and knocked down 17-of-24 (.708) attempts at the free-throw line.
