Farmingdale State 67, Medgar Evers 31
BROOKLYN | The Farmingdale State College women's basketball team picked up its first win of the season Tuesday night, as it defeated host Medgar Evers College by the score of 67-31.

The Rams (1-1) scored the first 11 points of the game, including six straight by junior guard Erin Conte (Melville, N.Y.), in opening up a 19-9 lead after the first period. FSC continued to dominate in the second quarter, with sophomore Victoria Kantzian (Staten Island, N.Y.) knocking down a 3-pointer on the fast break with 12 seconds left to give the visitors a 35-16 halftime advantage. Farmingdale State's defense limited the Cougars (1-2) to 6-of-24 shooting in the first half, while forcing 20 turnovers.

The Rams remained in control in the second half, as their defense held Medgar Evers to 15 points over the final 20 minutes to round out the victory.

FSC freshman Taneece Wooden (Freeport, N.Y.) scored a game-high 14 points on 6-of-9 shooting to go with six steals and as many rebounds, while junior Gemma Pohalski (Huntington, N.Y.) collected a double-double with 13 points and 12 boards. Conte (five steals) and Kantzian registered nine points apiece, while guards Jenna Pignataro (Jr.; Farmingville, N.Y.) and Mia Simmons (Fr.; Jamaica, N.Y.) came off the bench to score eight and seven points, respectively.

Head coach Mark Dellecave's Rams are next in action this weekend (Nov. 17-18) at the Hunter Tip-Off Tournament in Manhattan, where they will play the host Hawks on Friday at 7 p.m., before squaring off with Widener University on Saturday at 3 p.m.
