FARMINGDALE, N.Y. | The Farmingdale State College women's tennis team moved its winning streak to seven matches Monday night, as it swept past Skyline Conference foe and visiting Sarah Lawrence College, 9-0.
The Rams (8-2, 4-0 Skyline) dropped just four games across their three doubles matches to start the evening against the Gryphons (2-7, 0-3), and received an 8-0 sweep at the second flight from sophomore
Amanda Jones (Mastic Beach, N.Y.) and freshman
Natalia Furchel (Manorville, N.Y.). The top-flight tandem of junior
Lien Collings (Merrick, N.Y.) and sophomore
MacKenzie Gisler (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.), along with the No. 3 duo of sophomores
Gabriella Loria (Levittown, N.Y.) and
Mikayla DeMaria (W. Babylon, N.Y.), each earned 8-2 victories against their respective competition from SLC.
Both Collings, and sophomore
Heather McGullam (Hauppauge, N.Y.), swept past their respective singles opponents at the Nos. 1 and 6 flights by identical 6-0, 6-0 scores, while Furchel moved to 7-3 on the season with her 6-1, 6-1 triumph at the No. 2 slot. Jones won at the third flight by scores of 6-2 and 6-4, while Gisler upped her singles record on the season to 8-1 with a 6-1, 6-2 decision at No. 4. Loria rounded out the sweep at No. 5, earning a 10-4 victory in the third-set super-tiebreaker to move to 9-1 on the campaign.
Head coach Adam Waterhouse's FSC team is back in Skyline action Tuesday night, when it travels to Patchogue, N.Y., for a 5 p.m. first serve at St. Joseph's University-Long Island.
