MILTON, N.Y. | Farmingdale State College competed Sunday at the 2023 Skyline Conference Cross Country Championships, with the Rams' women's team placing second (103 pts.), while the men took home a third-place finish (80 pts.) at the Hudson Valley Sportsdome. Both squads had two runners named to all-conference teams, including men's freshman Zackary Gopie (Floral Park, N.Y.), who was named Rookie of the Year.

FSC's women's side was led by senior Alycia Haynes (Adams Ctr., N.Y.), who placed fifth on the 6,000-meter course with her time of 29:22.0 to collect first-team all-conference mention. Senior Michaela Rapisarda (Deer Park, N.Y.) was next across the finish line for the Rams, clocking in with a ninth-place time of 30:47.6, earning second-team all-Skyline praise in the process. Freshman Kaitlin Slattery (Merrick, N.Y.) and senior Emily Russell (Southold, N.Y.) placed 24th and 25th in times of 33:40.6 and 33:58.1, respectively, while freshman Precious Akahara's (Valley Stream, N.Y.) 40th-place, 35:36.5 showing rounded out the Rams' scoring.

Gopie, a four-time Skyline Conference weekly honoree throughout the regular season, was the top freshman finisher with his second-place time of 28:32.8 on the 8,000-meter loop to also earn all-conference first-team kudos. Junior Jonathan Engelhardt (Kings Park, N.Y.) joined Gopie on the all-conference squad, garnering second-team accolades are placing 12th in a time of 30:43.5. A trio of freshman wrapped up the Farmingdale State scoring, with each scoring in the top-25 on the afternoon; Max Reilly (Levittown, N.Y.) and Gabriel Aguiar (Levittown, N.Y.) scored 20th (31:50.0) and 21st (31:55.3), respectively, while Amaan Narine (Jamaica, N.Y.) used his 32:28.6 time to earn 25th-place points.

Head coach Daniela Georgieva's Farmingdale State teams are back in action Nov. 11, when they travel to Logan Twp., N.J., for the Atlantic Regional Championship.
