#2 Farmingdale State - 3, #1 Mount Saint Mary - 2

Newburgh, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State softball team earned a 3-2 victory over top-seeded Mount Saint Mary in the Skyline Conference Playoffs this morning. The Rams have now clinched a berth into the Finals on Sunday.

Junior catcher Meagan Anderson (Patchogue, N.Y.) led off the game for the Rams (20-12) with a single up the middle and advanced to second on a wild pitch. After an Andrea Klarman (Medford, N.Y.) walk, senior center fielder Michelle Mongiello (Elmont, N.Y.) hit a 3-run home run to center for Farmingdale State.

In the bottom of the first, Mount Saint Mary (18-10) plated two unearned run to cut the deficit to 3-2.

Senior pitcher Taylor Webb (West Babylon, N.Y.) preserved the lead for Farmingdale State as she allowed only two hits over the final six innings. Webb earned the win after throwing a complete game allowing no earned runs and striking out seven. Webb improved to 2-0 in the Rams' two playoff games and hasn't allowed an earned run and has only given up six hits in 12 innings pitched.

The Rams advance to Sunday's Championship game which will be played at Mount Saint Mary without a loss in the double-elimination tournament. Farmingdale State will play tomorrow morning at 11:00 a.m. and if necessary the second game of the day will take place at 1:30 p.m.
