Purchase, N.Y. - After overcoming a 3-run deficit in the seventh inning of game one, the Rams broke the 1-1 tie in the final inning of game two to capture their third straight Skyline Conference Championship. Farmingdale State earned the conference's automatic bid to the 2013 NCAA Division III Softball Tournament.

Game One

The Rams (24-15) trailed 4-1 heading into the bottom of the seventh inning. After back-to-back hits to start the inning, freshman pinch hitter Meghan Acton (Levittown, N.Y.) hit an RBI single to cut the deficit to 4-2. Sophomore right fielder Sam Johrden (Deer Park, N.Y.) pulled Farmingdale State within one, 4-3, on an RBI bunt single. Sophomore center fielder Michelle Mongiello (Elmont, N.Y.) hit the two out walk-off two RBI single to give the Rams the 5-4 win and force the second and deciding game.

Sophomore pitcher Taylor Webb (West Babylon, N.Y.) earned the victory after throwing two scoreless innings in relief.

Game Two

Trailing 1-0 in the third inning of game two, Mongiello tied the game with an RBI double which scored junior shortstop Hillary Genova (Brentwood, N.Y.). Webb held the Golden Eagles hitless over the next three innings, while Farmingdale State had scoring chances in the fourth and sixth.

In the top of the seventh, freshman catcher Meagan Anderson (Patchogue, N.Y.) hit a solo home run to right field to give the Rams a 2-1 lead.

St. Joe's hit a lead off single in the bottom of the inning, before Farmingdale State's third baseman Kristen Flint (Brentwood, N.Y.) made a diving catch for the first out. Flint threw to first to try to turn the double play, but the runner was able to advance to second.

With the runner in scoring position and one out, Webb struck out the next two batters, leading Farmingdale State to the Skyline Conference title.

Webb, who was named the Tournament's Most Valuable Player, earned her second victory of the afternoon after allowing one run on five hits in seven innings of work.
