Rams Overcome 20-point Deficit for Win at Sage

Albany, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State men's basketball team completed a 20-point comeback on Saturday afternoon for a 64-60 conference victory over The Sage Colleges (8-10, 3-7). The Rams improved to 13-5, 9-2 in the Skyline with the win.

The Gators never trailed in the first half and used a 15-0 run over the last six minutes to open up the 38-22 advantage at the break. Sage held Farmingdale State to 25-percent shooting from the field in the first.

In the second, the Gators held a 20-point lead (42-22) with 18:14 left in regulation. The Rams scored 24 points over the next ten minutes, behind 12 points from junior guard Terence Henderson (Bronx, N.Y.), to cut the deficit to 50-46.

Senior guard Ryan Davis (Flushing, N.Y.) made the next Farmingdale layup and an AJ Matthews free throw would make it 50-49, but Sage pushed the lead back to four with 6:42 to play and a 53-49 lead.

Senior guard Christian Nunez (White Plains, N.Y.) scored the next five points, on two free throws and a 3-pointer, to give the Rams their first lead of the game, 54-53.

After leading 60-58 with 1:29 remaining, a pair of Sage free throws evened the game (60-60), before Farmingdale scored the final four points to cap off the comeback victory.

Farmingdale State next will host Maritime on Tuesday, January 29th at 7:00 p.m.
