Box Score - Rossano Involved in Two Tiebreakers -
West Islip, N.Y. - Junior Kristina Rossano (Franklin Square, N.Y.) secured two points with her tiebreaker victories in Sunday's women's tennis match against St. Joseph's, where the Rams came home with a 5-4 conference win to improve to 8-4 overall, 4-2 in Skyline play.
Freshmen Jessica Sickles (Massapequa Park, N.Y.) and Alexandra Bentz (Massapequa Park, N.Y.) both went 2-0 in the all-important victory for the Rams. Sickles won 7-5, 6-0 at first singles and teamed with Rossano at first doubles for the win. Bentz improved to 12-0 overall at second singles with a 6-2, 6-4 victory and teamed with freshman Liliya Dyakiv (Shirley, N.Y.) in a win at second doubles 8-3.
Farmingdale State is now tied for 2nd place with St. Joe's and Purchase, all with a 4-2 record going into the playoffs. Due to the tiebreaker rules, the total individual matches won between the three teams in question will determine the seedings. St. Joseph's will be the #2 seed (10 matches won), the Rams are #3 seed (9 matches won) and Purchase is the #4 seed (8 matches won).
The Rams will face #2 seed St. Joseph's in the Skyline Semifinal round on Wednesday, October 26th at St. John the Baptist High School in West Islip at 7:00 p.m.
