Box Score 2 Rams Close out Regular Season with Sweep of
Purchase

Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State softball team
closed out the regular season with a sweep of this afternoon's
doubleheader against Skyline opponent Purchase College. The Rams
improved to 27-9 overall and 12-2 in the conference.
In game one, the Rams scored 13 runs in the first inning to take
control early. Farmingdale added five in the second and tacked on
their final run in the bottom of the fourth, en route to a 19-0
victory over Purchase (9-22, 2-12 Skyline).
Junior shortstop Nicole Farber
(Oakdale, N.Y./Connetquot) was 3-for-3 at the plate with three runs
scored and three RBI's, while sophomore outfielder Kaitlin
Keenan (West Islip, N.Y./West Islip) was 2-for-4 with two runs
and three RBI's for the Rams. Sophomore first baseman Aubrey Walker
(West Babylon, N.Y./West Babylon) and sophomore outfielder Rebecca
Richman (West Islip, N.Y./West Islip) each hit a homerun and
had three runs scored in game one.
Farmingdale State again started quickly, scoring five runs in
the first and seven runs in the second inning of game two. The Rams
added eight more runs over the final two innings, as they earned
their second consecutive shutout over the Panthers.
In game two, Farber had three hits, four runs scored and five
runs batted in. She finished the day 6-for-7 at the plate with
eight RBI's. Freshman third baseman Kristen Flint
(Brentwood, N.Y./Brentwood) and freshman catcher Christine
Watson (Holtsville, N.Y./Sachem East) each hit a homerun in the
second game.
Freshman pitcher Lauren
Fitzpatrick (Huntington, N.Y./Walt Whitman) started both games
for the Rams and allowed one hit in the first game and three in the
second, earning wins in both starts.
Farmingdale State will host the first round of the Skyline
Conference Playoffs on Thursday, April 29th at 4:30 p.m.
