Box Score 2 Rams Take Two over Golden Eagles

Bellport, N.Y. - Sophomore pitcher Hope Zino
(Bay Shore, N.Y./Bay Shore) pitched a complete game victory, her
sixth of the season, with nine strikeouts, three hits and no walks
as the Rams took game one, 6-1, in a Skyline Conference
doubleheader over St. Joseph's on Saturday afternoon. Farmingdale
also won game two with a 15-0 run-rule win over the Golden
Eagles.
Game
1
The Rams got a run early to take the 1-0 lead with a single and
a stolen base by freshman second baseman Maressa Mistretta
(Shirley, N.Y./Longwood), followed by an RBI single to right center
from junior shortstop Nicole Farber (Oakdale, N.Y./Connetquot) to
score Mistretta from second base.
The game remained at 1-0 Farmingdale until the top of the sixth
when a two RBI single from sophomore centerfielder Kaitlin Keenan
(West Islip, N.Y./West Islip) scored Mistretta and sophomore
leftfielder Rebecca Richman (West Islip, N.Y./West Islip) for the
3-0 lead.
The Rams added three more in the seventh. Sophomore first
baseman led off with a triple to left and was brought home off a
single to left from freshman catcher Jennifer Jarczynski (West
Babylon, N.Y./West Babylon). Sophomore Amanda Maass (Mastic Beach,
N.Y./William Floyd) scored freshman third baseman Kristen Flint
(Brentwood, N.Y./Brentwood) with a pinch-hit single to left center
to make it 5-0 Rams. Jarczynski stole home for the final run of the
inning, 6-0.
St. Joe's got a run back in the bottom of the seventh off an
error and a double, but the Rams would take the 6-1 victory.
Game
2
Farmingdale opened the game with two runs on three hits in the
first inning, including an RBI single from Farber. In the third,
the Rams scored two more for the 4-0 lead off an RBI single from
Maass and an error.
Farmingdale brought in nine more runs in the fourth inning,
building up a 13-0 advantage. The first run came on a fielder's
choice RBI from freshman designated hitter Megan Kirchmeier
(Hauppauge, N.Y./Hauppauge), followed by RBI singles from
Mistretta, Farber, Maass and Flint. Jarczynski knocked in three
runs with a triple to right and scored on an RBI groundout by
freshman rightfielder Elizabeth Escobar (West Babylon, N.Y./West
Babylon).
The final two runs in the fifth inning were scored by Mistretta
on an error and Richman on a sacrifice fly by freshman left fielder
Danielle Hnath (Floral Park, N.Y./The Mary Louis Academy).
Zino got the win (7-4) as she pitched three innings allowing
just two hits and striking out two batters. Freshman pitcher Lauren Fitzpatrick (Huntington, N.Y./Walt Whitman) came in for relief
going two innings with one hit and one strikeout.
