Box Score 2 Zino Strikes Out Ten and Buckshaw Throws a
One-Hitter

Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State Rams
swept the Mount Saint Vincent Dolphin's this afternoon in a Skyline
Conference doubleheader. Sophomore pitcher Hope Zino
(Bayshore, N.Y/Bayshore) and junior pitcher Heather Buckshaw
(Oakdale, N.Y./Connetquot) both pitched shutouts for the Rams. Zino
pitched six innings with ten strikeouts and three hits, while
Buckshaw pitched a one-hitter.
In game one the Rams scored four of their eight runs in the
second inning. With one out freshman Jennifer Jarczynski (West
Babylon, N.Y./West Babylon) tripled to center field. Freshman
Elizabeth Escobar (West Babylon, N.Y./West Babylon) singled up the
middle scoring Jarczynski. Sophomore Rebecca Richman (West Islip,
N.Y./West Islip) single to left field advancing Escobar to
second. Escobar and Richman moved to third and second on a
passed ball which put them in scoring position for freshman Maressa
Mistretta (Shirley, N.Y./Longwood). Mistretta doubled to left
field and both runners scored. The Rams scored their final run when
sophomore Kaitlin Keenan (West Islip, N.Y./West Islip) doubled to
center field and scored Mistretta to make it 5-0 after two innings.
Farmingdale scored one run in the third, fifth and sixth innings
to force the run rule and win 8-0. Zino struck out the side in the
third inning and the sixth inning. She improves her record to 4-3.
In the second game, Farmingdale scored four runs in both the
first inning and the second inning followed by an explosive third
inning where they scored seven runs. Buckshaw, who is now 4-2,
pitched her one-hitter in five innings with no walks and four
strikeouts. Mistretta went 2-2 with two runs. Keenan
went 2-4 with three RBI's and three runs scored. Sophomore
Aubrey Walker (West Babylon, N.Y./West Babylon) went 2-3 with two
runs scored and two RBI's. The Rams would go on to win the game
17-0.
The Rams will travel to #22 Rowan on Tuesday to play a
double-header starting at 3pm.
