Box Score Rams Defeat NYU-Poly for Conference Win
Farmingdale State - 73, NYU-Poly - 62
Brooklyn, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State men's
basketball team traveled to NYU-Poly Tuesday night and defeated the
Fighting Blue Jays 73-62. The Rams now stand at 10-10 overall, 10-5
in the Skyline Conference.
In the opening minutes of the second half the game was tied
31-31 until Farmingdale scored seven straight points, taking a
38-31 lead with 16:30 remaining. Freshman guard Myles Hinchcliffe
(Flower Mound, Tex./Flower Mound) hit a three-pointer on NYU-Poly's
next possession to cut the deficit to four. The Rams countered with
a 9-2 run over the next 3:11, opening up a 47-36 advantage.
Farmingdale extended their lead to 59-40 at the 7:05 mark and held
at least a nine point lead for the remainder of the game.
Senior guard Terrence Howard (Queens, N.Y./Cardozo) shot
7-for-10 from the field, scoring 21 points and had seven rebounds
for the Rams. Junior guard Shahee Martin (Queens, N.Y./West
Hempstead) had 15 points and eight rebounds, while junior guard
Alvin Dennis (Bellport, N.Y./Bellport) scored 13.
NYU-Poly was led by Hinchcliffe who shot 62% from the floor,
including hitting four three-point baskets for a game-high 24
points.
Farmingdale State hosts conference opponent Old Westbury this
evening at 8:00 p.m. The Farmingdale State basketball teams will be
participating in this years' Women's Basketball Coaches Association
(WBCA) Pink Zone initiative in honor of breast cancer awareness and
to raise money for the Kay Yow/WBCA Cancer Fund.
