Box Score Rams Drop Non-Conference Game at St. Joseph's
(Me.)
St. Joseph's (Me.) - 82, Farmingdale State - 76
Standish, Me. - The Farmingdale State men's
basketball team fell to St. Joseph's (Me.), 82-76, in a
non-conference game on Saturday. The Rams now stand at 2-6 overall,
while St. Joseph's improved to 7-1.
The Rams held the lead for a majority of the first half and led
26-21, after an Alby Skrelji (Hastings-on-Hudson, N.Y./Hastings)
layup at the 7:10 mark. The Monks responded with a 7-0 run over the
next 1:08, holding a two point advantage with 6:02 remaining in the
first half. Farmingdale would go into the break trailing 43-34.
The Rams would pull within six after a jumper by junior guard
Shahee Martin (Queens, N.Y./West Hempstead) and a layup by Skrelji
midway through the second half. The Monks countered, extending
their lead to a game-high 13 points with 3:13 remaining. St.
Joseph's would go on to win 82-76, earning their fourth straight
victory.
Martin led all scorers with 28 points, shooting 10-for-17 from
the field for Farmingdale. Junior forward Nikita Davis
(Brooklyn, N.Y./Telecommunication) scored 16 and grabbed a
game-high 12 rebounds, while Skrelji scored 12 and had eight
rebounds.
St. Joseph's (Me.) was led by junior guard Tyler Kelley (Saco,
Me./Thornton Academy) who posted a team-high 19 points, while
sophomore guard Zach O'Brien (Schenectady, N.Y./Bishop Gibbons)
pitched in scoring 17.
Farmingdale will host Skyline opponent NYU-Poly on Tuesday,
January 5th at 6:00 p.m.
