Box Score Oliver Ties School Record in Loss to Ramapo

Farmingdale, N.Y. - Freshman guard Ricco Oliver
(Brooklyn, N.Y./Boys and Girls) tied a school record with seven
three-pointers, but the Farmingdale State men's basketball team
fell to visiting Ramapo College tonight, 101-96. The Rams head into
the holiday break with a 2-5 overall record, while the Roadrunners
stand at 8-2 overall.
Sinking 11 three-pointers in the first half, Farmingdale built
up a 13 point lead, 57-44. Oliver led the Rams as he knocked down
six of his seven three's in the first twenty minutes, for 18 of his
23 points. Junior forward Nikita Davis (Brooklyn,
N.Y./Telecommunications) pulled down nine rebounds and scored 13
points in the first half.
In the second, Ramapo used a nine point run to cut the deficit
to 64-63 with 14:44 on the clock. Farmingdale responded with two
baskets from senior forward Terrence Howard (Queens, N.Y./Cardozo),
a Davis fast break dunk, and the record-tying three from Oliver to
take back the lead, 73-65. Using a full court press, the
Roadrunners forced four turnovers and scored eight unanswered
points over the next 1:30, tying the game at 73-73.
A three-point play by junior forward Shahee Martin (Queens,
N.Y./West Hempstead) put the Rams back in control, 76-73, before
Ramapo's sophomore center LaQuan Peterkin (Paterson, N.J./John F.
Kennedy) did the same to spark another run (12-2) as his team took
the final lead of the game.
Martin finished with a game-high 29 points and three blocks for
Farmingdale State, while Davis finished with 20 points and a
game-high 14 rebounds. Oliver ties former players Peter Lipka and
Damien Santana for the Farmingdale record of three-pointers in a
single game.
The Rams travel to St.Joseph's of Maine for a non-conference
game on Saturday January 2nd at 3:00 p.m.
