Eastern Connecticut State 2, Farmingdale State 1
FARMINGDALE, N.Y. | Sophomore winger
Lucca Noboa's (Freeport, N.Y.) second goal of the season was not enough for the Farmingdale State College men's soccer team, which saw its comeback attempt come up short in falling Sunday afternoon to Eastern Connecticut State University, 2-1.
The visiting Warriors (2-1) took a 1-0 lead 32 minutes into play, when Sebastian Kadlof cut in off a right-side break and sent a 23-yard shot into the top-right corner.
ECSU carried the one-goal lead into halftime, and doubled its advantage in the 66th minute, as Christian Moura tapped home a deflected cross.
FSC (0-2-1) responded 41 seconds later, when sophomore
Josue Corea (Wyandanch, N.Y.) fed Noboa at the back post on a cross from the left side of the penalty area.
The Rams continued to push for an equalizer, including in the final minute of the action when senior midfielder
Christian Russo (Franklin Square, N.Y.) sent a cross that skipped just past the left-hand post.
Corea placed two shots on target for the hosts, while Noboa and junior
Sebastian Cuenca (East Rockaway, N.Y.) both added two. Junior
Andrew Verdugo (East Elmhurst, N.Y.) made three saves in net for Farmingdale State, which next plays host to Rutgers-Newark on Wednesday (Sept. 9) at 4 p.m.
