WINCHESTER, Va. | Farmingdale State College fell Friday afternoon on the opening day of the 2026 NCAA Division III Baseball Championship, as the Rams dropped a 21-1 decision to host Shenandoah – ranked No. 6 nationally in this week's ABCA Division III Poll and No. 7 in the D3baseball.com tally.
The Rams (27-10), which saw their 21-game winning streak come to an end at the hands of the Hornets (36-10), will now play an elimination game Saturday at 11 a.m. against the losing team from Friday afternoon's tilt between Transvlvania University and Messiah University.

Mike D'Angelo (Mineola, N.Y.) got on courtesy of a fielder's choice. Both runners were in scoring position following a sacrifice bunt by sophomore
Tyler Diez (Levittown, N.Y.), before Shenandoah starter Blake Griffin (7 IP, ER, 3 H, 2 BB) got one of his five strikeouts on the day to get out of the jam.
The Hornets went ahead with a six-run bottom of the second inning, before Farmingdale State got onto the scoreboard in the top of the third. Sophomore shortstop
Kaolis Delacruz (Levittown, N.Y.) reached on a one-out infield single, before junior
Carmine Scardina (Farmingdale, N.Y.) was issued a two-out walk. Freshman outfielder
Matt Faraone (East Yaphank, N.Y.) then drove home Delacruz from second base, as he sent a 2-1 pitch up the middle for a base hit.
