PURCHASE, N.Y. | The Farmingdale State College softball team traveled to co-Skyline Conference leader Manhattanville University on Sunday afternoon, and fell in both games of a doubleheader to the host Valiants by identical 6-0 scores.

In the opening contest, FSC (18-14, 10-2 Skyline) had runners in scoring position in the first inning after a leadoff base hit by junior Madison Sturtz (East Islip, N.Y.), along with in the seventh inning following singles by junior Isabella Marchini (Hicksville, N.Y.) and sophomore Alexandra Pole (Rocky Point, N.Y.), but were unable to cash in on the scoreboard against the Valiants (27-7, 14-0).

Manhattanville got on the board with one run in the fourth inning, before adding two runs in the fifth inning and three more in the sixth to pull away.

Senior Samantha Stolfi (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y.) also notched a base hit in the opener for the Rams.

The Valiants led off the bottom of the first inning of game two with a solo homer, and added single runs in the third through fifth innings to power ahead.

FSC received single hits from Sturtz, Stolfi and Pole in the nightcap, while sophomores Nikole Galgano (Levittown, N.Y.) and Madison DeMaio (Elmont, N.Y.) each were issued one walk.

Farmingdale State is next in Skyline action on Monday, when it travels to SUNY Old Westbury for a 5 p.m. doubleheader.
