BRONXVILLE, N.Y. | The Farmingdale State College men's tennis team earned a 7-0 Skyline Conference victory over Sarah Lawrence College on Friday afternoon. With the win, the Rams finish the regular season with a 7-1 record in Skyline play and will enter next week's Skyline Conference Championship as the No. 2 seed.
FSC opened by securing the doubles point with wins in all three matches. Junior Kwaku Agyeman (Middletown, N.Y.) and sophomore Zakaria Ahmed (Manhasset, N.Y.) recorded a 6-1 win over Clayton Miller and Jules Voorhoeve at first doubles. Junior Emil Sabovic (Bohemia, N.Y.) and freshman Luke Plana (Bohemia, N.Y.) defeated Jozef Kandrac and Gavin Wright, 6-0, at second doubles, and junior Myles Freelin (Islip, N.Y.) and freshman Broc Brown (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) earned a 6-0 victory at third doubles.
The Rams went on to win all six singles matches as Ahmed posted a 6-4, 6-2 victory over Miller at first singles and Agyeman earned a 6-0, 6-0 win against Voorhoeve at second singles.
Sophomore Michael Lerman (Massapequa, N.Y.) recorded a three-set victory in the third position, defeating Leon Bronshvag, 6-3, 5-7, 6-0.
Junior Danial Zindani (Walden, N.Y.) earned a 6-0, 4-0 win by retirement over Avery Romano-Villani at fourth singles, while sophomore Jordan Gonzales (Central Islip, N.Y.) defeated Wright, 6-1, 6-1, in the fifth slot. Plana completed the sweep with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Aidan Roney at sixth singles.
Farmingdale State will next travel to Western Connecticut State for its regular season finale on Monday, April 27th at 4 p.m. The Rams will then enter the Skyline Conference Men's Tennis Championship as the No. 2 seed, hosting the semifinals on Wednesday, April 29th.
