St. Joseph's-Long Island 9, Farmingdale State 8
PATCHOGUE, N.Y. | The Farmingdale State College women's lacrosse team fell Tuesday night in a Skyline Conference game at St. Joseph's-Long Island, 9-8, in both teams' final contest before the upcoming 2026 Skyline Conference Women's Lacrosse Championship.
FSC (7-9, 6-2 Skyline), St. Joseph's (6-8, 6-2) and Mount Saint Mary College all finish regular-season conference play in a tie for second place. Through the Skyline's tiebreaking procedures, the Rams will be the No. 2 seed in the upcoming 2026 Skyline Conference Women's Lacrosse Championship by virtue of goal differential, and have a first-round bye in the six-team tournament field. First-round play gets underway April 25, before the Rams and top-seeded U.S. Merchant Marine Academy will enter the field and host semifinal contests on Wednesday, April 29. The full bracket, schedule and pairings will be announced on SkylineConference.org and FarmingdaleSports.com shortly.
After Farmingdale State junior attack
Carly Livingston (Farmingdale, N.Y.) opened the scoring 1:23 into the game, the Golden Eagles ran off three consecutive goals before a tally by Rams sophomore
Rylee Valenzano (Centereach, N.Y.) in the final 10 seconds of the quarter stopped the hosts' run.
The visitors leveled the game at 3-3 more than six minutes into the second quarter when senior
Jordyn Neu (New Hyde Park, N.Y.) fed classmate
Kailee Coppola (Levittown, N.Y.). From there, St. Joseph's netted goals twice in the final 2:35 to hold a 5-3 halftime edge.
The Golden Eagles extended their lead to 8-5 at the end of three quarters, before FSC began to chip away. Livingston finished off a hat trick, and scored her second shorthanded goal of the evening, just over two minutes into the fourth quarter to cut her side's deficit to two. The gap then closed to 8-7 with 3:23 to go, when sophomore defender
Sabrina Middleton (Lake Grove, N.Y.) registered her first goal in a Rams uniform from the 8-meter arc. After St. Joseph's pushed its lead back to two with 1:54 remaining, Livingston bagged her game-high fourth goal on a free-position effort with 43.8 seconds on the clock to cut FSC's deficit to 9-8. The Rams forced a Golden Eagles turnover in the defensive half of the field inside the final 15 seconds, but were unable to get a shot off before the final horn sounded.
Livingston's five points (4g, a) led all scorers, including a 3-for-3 effort at the free-position arc, while Coppola scored two times. Senior defender
Shyann Parker (Floral Park, N.Y.) swiped three caused turnovers on defense in front of junior goalie
Giavanna Stamatelo (Levittown, N.Y.), who made nine of her 15 saves in the second half to give Farmingdale State a chance to mount a comeback.
