Softball Sweeps Skyline Twinbill at Yeshiva

Game 1: Farmingdale State 18, Yeshiva 0 (5 inn.)
Game 2: Farmingdale State 12, Yeshiva 1 (5 inn.)
NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. | The Farmingdale State College softball team moved to 10-0 in Skyline Conference play after sweeping Yeshiva University in a doubleheader on Sunday night at Flowers Park. The Rams (17-11 overall) won both contests in five innings, earning an 18-0 victory to start the evening before securing a 12-1 win in the second game.

FSC received a complete-game two-hitter in the pitcher's circle from freshman Kiara Kegel (Massapequa, N.Y.) in the opener, as the Rams' offense backed the right-hander with an eight-run top of the first inning to set the tone. Farmingdale State added nine more runs across the next three innings, including a five-run third inning, as all 18 players in the batting lineup reached safely at least once.

Kegel (5-6) needed just 62 pitches to earn her first collegiate shutout, and struck out 11 Maccabees hitters along the way. The Farmingdale State offense was led by sophomore Alexandra Pole (Rocky Point, N.Y.), who registered a triple, two runs scored and three RBI, while senior designated player Samantha Stolfi (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y.) notched a double, scored twice and drove in two runs. Outfielders Ashley Toro (Jr.; Islip, N.Y.) and Charley Callahan (Fr.; Wallkill, N.Y.) each went 2-for-2 with an extra-base hit and two RBI.

Game two saw the visitors go ahead 4-0 after a top of the first inning that included a three-run, inside the park home run by freshman Emily Lopez (Miller Place, N.Y.). Yeshiva (0-19, 0-12) received a solo inside the park homer in its half of the frame, before the Rams put the game out of reach with two runs in the second inning, followed by six more in the third.

Lopez finished 2-for-2 with two runs scored, while Pole added an inside the park home run and drove in three. Callahan and junior Michelle Segura (Shirley, N.Y.) each batted 2-for-2, while senior pitcher Deanna Ebert (Bay Shore, N.Y.) allowed two hits and two walks while fanning 11 to earn the complete-game victory.

Farmingdale State will play host to NYU in a non-conference doubleheader on Wednesday (April 22) at 3:30 p.m.
