Men's Tennis Picks Up Wins Over Mount Saint Vincent and Purchase

FARMINGDALE, N.Y. | The Farmingdale State men's tennis team earned two Skyline Conference victories on Saturday afternoon, defeating the University of Mount Saint Vincent and Purchase College by 7-0 scores. With the wins, the Rams moved to 8-7 overall and 5-1 in Skyline Conference play.

In the first match of the day against Mount Saint Vincent, FSC secured the doubles point with wins in all three matches. Junior Kwaku Agyeman (Middletown, N.Y.) and freshman Henri Pothier (Montgomery, N.Y.) recorded a 6-1 win at first doubles against Luka Gelevski and Paul Simonet. Sophomore Michael Lerman (Massapequa, N.Y.) and junior Danial Zindani (Walden, N.Y.) earned a 6-1 victory over David Hoagland and Brennan Sherman at second doubles, while freshman Grant Larwood (North Massapequa, N.Y.) and sophomore Daniel Barnes (Massapequa, N.Y.) defeated Jonah Jones and Imran Khan by a 6-1 score at third doubles.

The Rams won all six singles matches to complete the sweep as Agyeman posted a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Gelevski at first singles, while Pothier earned a 6-0, 6-0 win against Simonet at second singles. Zindani followed with a 6-0, 6-0 result against Hoagland at third singles.

Freshman Broc Brown (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) defeated Sherman, 6-0, 6-0, at fourth singles, junior Myles Freelin (Islip, N.Y.) recorded a 6-0, 6-0 win over Jones at fifth singles, and Barnes closed out the match with a 6-0, 6-0 victory against Khan at sixth singles.

Farmingdale State returned to the courts later in the afternoon to face Purchase College in another Skyline Conference matchup.

The Rams again earned the doubles point with wins in all three matches. Freshman Devan Melandro (Syosset, N.Y.) and sophomore Zakaria Ahmed (Manhasset, N.Y.) posted a 7-5 victory over Eli Palagatshev and Isaac Spottek at first doubles. Junior Emil Sabovic (Bohemia, N.Y.) and freshman Luke Plana (Bohemia, N.Y.) recorded a 6-1 win against Dexter Pretnar and Markian Nychka at second doubles, while sophomores Jake Pepitone (Carle Place, N.Y.) and Aidan Keane (Holbrook, N.Y.) defeated Ryan Hobson and Pedro Llonch-Vidalle, 6-1, at third doubles.

In singles play, Melandro earned a 7-6 (7-3), 6-1 victory over Palagatshev at first singles. Ahmed tallied a 7-5, 6-4 win against Spottek at second singles, while sophomore Jordan Gonzales (Central Islip, N.Y.) defeated Pretnar, 7-6 (7-2), 6-0, at third singles.

Plana recorded a 6-2, 6-2 victory against Nychka at fourth singles, while Sabovic earned a 6-1, 6-0 win over Hobson at fifth singles. Pepitone completed the sweep with a 4-6, 6-0, 6-1 victory against Llonch-Vidalle at sixth singles.

Farmingdale State will next host non-conference opponent John Jay College on Monday, April 20th at 4:30 p.m.
